The Osnaburg Local School District is proud to announce that three exceptional students from East Canton High School’s Class of 2026 have qualified to earn the Governor’s Merit Scholarship, one of Ohio’s most distinguished academic honors.
The recipients are:
Dillon Anderson, son of Amanda Deeser and John Anderson
Timothy Buehler, son of Chris and Sarah Buehler
Sarah Helms, daughter of Jason Helms and Michelle Conrad Helms
To qualify, students must rank within the top 5% of their graduating class as of August 1st of their senior year. This achievement not only recognizes outstanding academic performance, but also opens doors to incredible opportunities for Ohio’s future leaders.
The Governor’s Merit Scholarship was created to encourage students to pursue higher education within the state of Ohio, reduce student debt, and strengthen Ohio’s workforce by supporting its brightest young minds. Recipients are eligible for a renewable $5,000 annual scholarship for up to four years when attending an Ohio public or chartered non-public high school and continuing their education at an Ohio postsecondary college or university.
In addition, as members of the top 5% of their class, these students receive guaranteed admission to any public college or university in the state of Ohio — a remarkable opportunity earned through years of hard work and dedication.
Superintendent Kevin Finefrock expressed his pride in the students’ accomplishments, stating:
“These students represent the very best of East Canton — dedicated, determined, and driven to achieve. We’re incredibly proud of their academic excellence and can’t wait to see the positive impact they’ll make in the future.”
Congratulations to Dillon, Timothy, and Sarah for their outstanding achievement and commitment to excellence!
