East Canton Middle School has been awarded Bronze Recognition from the Ohio Department of Education & Workforce for its success in implementing Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS). This recognition highlights the school’s commitment to building a positive, predictable, and supportive learning environment for all students.

PBIS is a framework designed to promote and reinforce positive behaviors, creating a school culture where students can thrive academically and socially. The Bronze designation represents a strong foundational level of implementation—demonstrating that East Canton Middle School has developed consistent systems to teach, model, and reward positive behavior across the building.

Principal Greg Dente shared his appreciation for the team effort that led to this achievement:

“I’m extremely proud of our staff and PBIS committee for their dedication to creating a positive and supportive school culture,” said Dente. “This recognition reflects the hard work and consistency of our teachers and staff who model and reinforce positive expectations every day. We’re proud of this progress and remain committed to continually improving for our students.”

East Canton Middle School’s PBIS efforts continue to focus on helping every student feel valued, supported, and empowered to succeed—one positive interaction at a time.
